Lake Como in low season isn’t a bad idea. As picturesque destinations nestled into the foothills of the Alps go, it’s up there. Take away the coachloads of tourists that flood Lombardy June through September and suddenly Lago di Como becomes a scenic setting fit for a magazine editorial. Enter Lara Menezes, dramatic lead for this 10-page cover story of the 12 November 2023 issue of The Sunday Times Style by photographer Giampaolo Sgura and stylist Verity Parker. Photographed last month, this story surveys this season’s cocktails dresses in terms that are imbued with an inviting warmth. In the fading light of a short autumn day Lara (pictured) reclines, cross-legged on a cushioned outdoor chair wearing a Blumarine dress and slingbacks from Celine by Hedi Slimane. There’s an unforced elegance in this portrait and the others that transcends seasons, high or low, but is ever present in Lara Menezes.
